What to watch out for when Buying a Second-hand Piano
While new pianos can play well for years, requiring minimal maintenance except for tuning, older pianos or pianos that have been stored for a long periods of time with little to no use can develop problems.
Buying a second-hand piano is a lot like buying a second-hand car – everything can look perfect on the outside, but if you fail to check under the bonnet, you may end up with an expensive project that will cost more than it’s worth.

A good example of this instrument. Full 85 note (7 octave) keyboard.
Includes “easy move” castors which should be fine on laminate floors and the like as they are much wider than normal piano castors and exert less pressure on the floor making the piano easier to move around.
It has had only light use and consequently plays much like a new instrument.
This piano has a resonant bass and bright treble proving that good quality can be attained in a small piano. Speaking as a professional pianist, I would say this is true. It’s certainly an enjoyable instrument to play.

Eavestaff make excellent small pianos and this is certainly no exception. It has a good resonant bass for such a small instrument and a good clear treble. Speaking as a professional pianist, I would say it’s certainly an enjoyable instrument to play, suitable for all pianists from beginner to advanced.
It only takes up the same sort of space as a digital piano – but it’s somewhat heavier of course! Why have a digital when you can have the real thing?
Perfect if you don’t want a piano that dominates the room.
I’m also a professional pianist so I always give the piano a quick play after a tuning just to make sure that everything is ok from the pianists point of view. Often the impression of a piano from the playing point of view is slightly different from that of the piano tuner’s. A piano can sometimes play better than might be expected!
If time is allowing I sometimes polish the pedals of some of the other brasses. It’s amazing what a difference a few minutes of the right kind of polishing can do. I often give the keys a quick clean too. It’s surprising how much dirty can be on the keyboard without anybody really knowing it.
